Profile

John Urban is a founding partner of Urban Thier & Federer Rechtsanwälte as well as managing partner of the firm's Orlando office, where he is also based. In addition, he regularly works in the Atlanta, New York, and London offices.

His practice includes civil litigation in commercial and contractual disputes, commercial law, debt collection matters, recognition and enforcement of foreign court judgments, international law, real estate law, wills and inheritance law, as well as significant personal injury and wrongful death cases. He has extensive experience in all forms of dispute resolution, including court proceedings, appeals, and mediation or arbitration proceedings.

He served as lead counsel in over 500 federal court proceedings and more than 100 state court proceedings. Additionally, he was involved in numerous appellate proceedings before federal and state appellate courts throughout the United States. He represented clients as lead counsel before the Supreme Court of the United States, as well as before numerous federal and state appellate courts, trial courts, and in arbitration proceedings – including before the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the American Arbitration Association (AAA), among other dispute resolution and arbitration organizations.

Mr. Urban is admitted to practice law in Florida, New York, and Georgia, as well as before the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Middle, and Northern Districts of Florida, and the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts for those districts. Additionally, he is admitted in Great Britain by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). Furthermore, he has served as lead counsel in numerous other jurisdictions through pro hac vice admissions, including Texas, California, and Washington.
