Profile

Dr. Linden is a German attorney and heads the UTF office in Aachen. He specializes in commercial, contract, and public procurement law. Previously, he served for many years as mayor of the city of Aachen and is an honorary citizen of the Euregio cities of Aachen, Liège, Hasselt, and Heerlen. Since 2009, he has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Society for the Awarding of the International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen.

Dr. Jur. Jürgen Linden has been practicing law since 1974 and is admitted to practice in Germany. He heads the UTF branch in Aachen.

From 1984 to 1989, Dr. Linden was the Mayor of the city of Aachen, and from 1989 to 2009, he was the Lord Mayor. Since 1989, he has been a member of the directorial board that awards the nationally and internationally renowned International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen; since 2009, he has been its chairman. From 2001 to 2009, Dr. Linden was a member of the presidium of the German Association of Cities. He was also a member of the City Council of Aachen from 1997 to 2009.

Dr. Linden is an honorary citizen of the Euregio cities of Aachen, Heerlen, Liège, and Hasselt, as well as an honorary citizen of the European Academy of Sciences in Salzburg. He has been awarded the Gold Medal of Honor of the Dutch city of Maastricht and is a recipient of the French Order of Merit, Grand Officer.
