Dr. Isabel Saulnier is Of Counsel and works in the Houston, Texas office. She is admitted to practice law in both Germany and the state of Texas and is a member of the State Bar of Texas. Her primary focus is on international business law, as well as family and inheritance law.

Dr. Isabel Saulnier holds a Master of Laws (LL. M.) from NYU School of Law, which she completed as a Fulbright Scholar. In 2003, she earned her Dr. jur. (summa cum laude) from Heidelberg University with a comparative law dissertation on e-commerce contracts. During her studies, she was a scholarship recipient of the German National Academic Foundation.

Dr. Saulnier is Of Counsel at Urban Thier Federer Law Firm and works in our office in Houston, Texas. She is admitted to practice law in Germany as well as in the State of Texas and is a member of the State Bar of Texas. Her primary practice areas include international business law as well as family and inheritance law. Dr. Saulnier assists European clients with establishing and expanding their U.S. business—ranging from corporate formation and purchasing and production contracts to distribution structures. In addition, she advises clients on the recognition, enforcement, and modification of divorce judgments and custody orders on both sides of the Atlantic.

In family law, especially in custody matters, but also in prenuptial agreements, Dr. Saulnier takes a holistic approach. She considers the family as a whole and focuses on long-term solutions – even in situations with high conflict potential. She strives to balance the interests of all parties involved and to de-escalate the situation without losing sight of the best possible outcome for her clients.

Before joining Urban Thier Federer Rechtsanwälte, Dr. Saulnier worked as an attorney in Germany and Belgium at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. There, her practice focused on international civil litigation, arbitration, and merger control. Subsequently, she spent three years working as a legal officer at the European Commission (Directorate-General for Competition), where she worked in areas including merger control as well as general antitrust and competition law.

Dr. Saulnier completed her law studies at Heidelberg University. Her dissertation, titled „International Civil Procedure Law for Contracts on the Internet,“ was published in 2004 under her maiden name, Scheuermann. She also authored several contributions to the „Commentary on German and European Antitrust Law“ by Berg/Mäsch.
